Online money pots: Xponsor or Leetchi for your collection?

Xponsor Cagnottes and Leetchi answer the same need: collecting money together, online, for a project, a celebration or a hard time. The difference is where the money lives. Leetchi is a French online money-pot platform in euros, built for contributors who pay by card and an organiser paid out by bank transfer within the SEPA area, while Xponsor is built for Benin, francophone West Africa and its diaspora. This page compares the two using only what each of them publishes itself, with nothing invented.

The short version

  • Leetchi states that “la création de votre cagnotte et de votre compte est entièrement gratuite”. On Xponsor, opening an account is free and there is no monthly subscription; any listing fee is shown before you publish.
  • Xponsor charges a 5% commission only on donations actually received. On Leetchi, fees apply when you request a bank transfer and depend on the total amount collected: no commission below €100, 6% from €100 to €10,000, and 1.5% above that (official help centre, page consulted on 20 July 2026).
  • Currencies: Xponsor collects in FCFA (XOF). On Leetchi, “la seule devise disponible sur notre plateforme est l'euro” - the euro is the only currency - although people abroad can contribute with a Visa or Mastercard, with possible exchange fees.
  • Payment methods: Xponsor accepts mobile money - MTN MoMo, Moov Money, Celtiis Cash, Mixx by Yas, Airtel Money, Free Money - through our payment provider. The official Leetchi payment-methods page lists Visa and Mastercard, Apple Pay, Google Pay and e-cartes bleues, with 3D Secure switched on.

Xponsor and Leetchi, point by point

Fees and commission

Xponsor
The account is free, with no subscription; any listing fee is shown before you publish. A 5% commission applies only to donations actually received. The payment-provider fees are included in the amount shown to the payer.
Leetchi
Creating an account and a money pot is entirely free; fees apply when you request a bank transfer and are calculated on the total amount collected: no commission for pots under €100, 6% from €100 to €10,000, and 1.5% above that. Leetchi describes this commission as its only source of revenue (help centre, 20 July 2026).

Currencies accepted

Xponsor
FCFA (XOF).
Leetchi
The euro only: “La seule devise disponible sur notre plateforme est l'euro.” Contributions from abroad are still possible by card, and exchange fees may apply.

Payment methods

Xponsor
Mobile money - MTN MoMo, Moov Money, Celtiis Cash, Mixx by Yas, Airtel Money, Free Money - through our payment provider.
Leetchi
Visa and Mastercard cards, French or foreign, Apple Pay, Google Pay and e-cartes bleues, with 3D Secure required. The official Leetchi payment-methods page lists nothing else.

Receiving the money

Xponsor
Collection through our payment provider in FCFA, by mobile money, designed for West Africa.
Leetchi
Bank transfer requests to anywhere in the SEPA area. For EU countries that do not use the euro and for non-EU countries, receiving banks may apply additional fees because of the currency conversion. A gift-card payout through its partner Gift.cool is presented as a “100% free alternative”, but only for private money pots in the Festivité & Partage category.

Money left in the pot

Xponsor
No subscription and no account-keeping fee, however long the collection runs: the cost does not depend on how long the funds stay in the pot.
Leetchi
Mangopay, Leetchi's payment provider, lets you keep the funds in the pot for up to 10 months free of charge. During the 11th month, if funds remain, it takes 10% of the available balance; from the 12th month onwards, account-keeping fees of €5 per month apply, on the anniversary date of the pot's creation, until the pot has been spent in full.

What it fundamentally is

Xponsor
One account, five products: Cagnottes, ticketing, J'y serai, contests and support. The money pot is one building block in a toolkit designed for West Africa and the diaspora.
Leetchi
A French online money-pot platform in euros, designed for collecting between friends and family - birthdays, leaving gifts, weddings - and for solidarity collections, with card payments and payouts by bank transfer within the SEPA area.

The collection page

Xponsor
One-off or recurring donations, free or suggested amounts, real-time tracking of the collection, a customisable page and automatic receipts.
Leetchi
Two categories to choose from at creation: “Solidarité & Entraide” and “Festivité & Partage”. Solidarité & Entraide pots can appear on the site when they are public - except for Obsèques (funeral) pots, which stay out of the search engine even when public - while Festivité & Partage pots cannot be made public or listed. The category can no longer be changed once the pot has been created.

Which platform to choose

Xponsor

When to choose Xponsor

Xponsor becomes the obvious choice as soon as the collection happens in West Africa, because you then need to collect in FCFA and to accept mobile money - MTN MoMo, Moov Money, Celtiis Cash, Mixx by Yas and more - through our payment provider. Creating an account is free: no monthly subscription, any listing fee shown before you publish, a 5% commission only on donations actually received, and the payment-provider fees already included in the amount shown to the payer. You choose one-off or recurring donations, free or suggested amounts, you track the collection in real time, you customise your page, and receipts go out automatically. The same account also opens four other products - ticketing, J'y serai, contests and support - if your project does not stop at the money pot.

Leetchi

When Leetchi is the right choice

Leetchi is the better choice when the whole collection is European: an organiser in France or the eurozone, contributors paying by Visa or Mastercard, Apple Pay or Google Pay, and a payout to a SEPA bank account. It is also an established brand that the French public recognises instantly, which reassures donors who do not know Xponsor yet. On very small collections between friends, below €100, the commission is waived; and for a private “Festivité & Partage” pot spent as a gift card through Gift.cool, the payout is presented as 100% free. In those two specific cases the organiser pays nothing. Finally, above €10,000 the Leetchi sliding scale drops to 1.5%, to set against the 5% rate on Xponsor Cagnottes.
